These verses on overcoming grief show us the words of God and give us some guidance through difficult times of loss. When we are grieving, it’s important to know that God hears our heartache. He’s always listening to our prayers.
He knows what we are going through, and he is always there with us. These bible verses about overcoming grief give us the words to praise God in the midst of our struggles. When our world seems like it is falling apart, they remind us that God will make everything alright in the end.
I come to you in prayer tonight asking that you heal me of my grief. You have suffered great pain and loss, more than any man could bear, but through it all you emerged victoriously. Heal my heart Jesus so that I might be free from grief’s grasp. Help me find peace in knowing that there is a place where all grief is left behind, a place where I will never know sadness or loss again. Help me to know that from this moment forward my heart will be healed and whole again. Empower me with the strength to feel joy in things that brings me pleasure, and help me to free myself from those things which cause sorrow.
I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
So with you: Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
Now when Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, and he began to teach them. He said: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage one another with these words.
I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me.
‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.
The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
