Missionary work is an important aspect of the Christian faith and these prayers for a missionary trip can be used to ask for one, ask for protection during one, or protect those embarking on one.
It allows us to spread the gospel and share the love of Christ with people all over the world. If you’re planning on going on a missionary trip, or if you know someone who is, here are some prayers that you can pray for them.

Heavenly Father, I pray for Your guidance and protection as I prepare for this missionary trip. Please give me strength, wisdom, and the right words to share Your love with those I meet. Amen.

Dear Lord, first I thank you for this opportunity to better serve you on this mission. I ask that you cover the financial costs of this trip so that I may go. I ask that you grant me a submissive heart that I may do what is asked of me on this trip. Let me also keep in mind that I go to serve Christ, not myself, in helping others. Please give me a servant’s heart in understanding what it is I am to do on this trip. Fill me with the Holy Spirit, so that I may find purpose and guidance along the way. Please allow me to be aware of the purpose of this mission. All I ask is to remain safe and healthy while I serve you in this manner. Oh Lord, we pray that the community that is receiving these missionaries does so with open arms. Let them be free of false religions and be willing to accept the Holy Spirit in their hearts. Dear Lord, let any barriers that would stop your will from being done be broken down by your will. God will open their eyes and their hearts to the light of the Lord and guide them to Your glory. God will make of them a community of disciples who will embrace His glory. We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Prayer for Safe Travel for the Mission
Dear Lord, we pray that you watch over anyone traveling to do your work. Keep them safe from any harm while on the road to do Your will. We pray that all necessary forms of travel are safe and completed without incident. We pray that any obstacles while traveling will be taken care of in your grace. In your name, we pray that any costs, unforeseen or not, are able to be covered so that your work can be done. We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Dear Lord, please watch and protect this family that goes out to serve you. It matters not if they stay close to home, or that they go out to a different country, allow them to serve you safely and strongly. I ask that you keep their relationship strong, not just with each other, but with the people, they are serving. Also please, O Lord, protect and watch over the people they leave behind while they go to do your work. The family and friends that stay at home, make sure they are looked after and filled with strength. Help the time go by quickly so that they may be reunited again in your love. Help them to pray for their health and bounty. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

Prayer for Those Serving to Remember to Relax
Oh Lord, please pray for these people who have been called to serve you. They will work hard as your servants. I ask, Lord, that you also remind those that are serving you that there also needs to be time for them to unwind and relax. Remind them, Lord Jesus, that the mind and body need to take the time to rest as well as the soul. You rested on the seventh day. Please help those that are serving you to know when it is time for them to take a day of rest. Dear Lord, grant to your servants the time to take a day of rest and to remember that it will do them good to be ready for the next day they are called to serve you. We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Dear Lord, we pray that the health of those going to do your work will remain strong. We pray that their hearts stay as strong as their bodies. Lord, please let those who are doing your work be mindful of their physical limits. Remind them that they can only do good work when they remain in a healthy condition. We pray that anyone who is called to serve you is able to give the most of their mind and their body. Please watch over them and continue to provide for them. We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
