Saying a prayer for the end of the day gives God thanks for the gift of the day, inviting protection as we sleep and asking for His blessings for tomorrow. A prayer is a powerful tool for ending the day and basking in the presence of the Lord.
Let us pray.

Dear God,
As I reflect on this day, I am so grateful for all that you have granted me.
Thank you for the gift of life, and for all the blessings that I have received. I pray that tomorrow will be a day of peace and joy. I ask for your blessing as I go into the new day.
Guide my steps and help me to make good choices. Be with those who are in need of your comfort and healing.
Thank you, God.
Amen.
Thankfulness Prayer for the End of the Day
Dear God, I am so grateful for this day.
Thank you for the air that I breathed, the sun that shone, and the food that I ate. Thank you for my health and for the love of the people in my life.
I am also thankful for the challenges that I faced today, as they have helped me to grow in strength and wisdom.
I place myself in Your grace and love as I lay down to sleep tonight safe in Your almighty embrace.
Amen.

Prayer to Finish Your Day
This was a longer prayer shared with our YouTube congregation. You could watch the video above to have us offer this prayer on your behalf. You could also offer God a prayer for nightly protection or a prayer for bedtime.
Lord, it is the end of another day. I just wanted you to know that I am grateful for your presence in my life. I am grateful for you giving me this day and I am grateful for you being in my life every day.
Not all my days are easy Lord, not all of my days are joyful. There are many times when I too forget to give you thanks for the day and many times when I find myself just too busy to take time out to thank you for the day.
I am praying to you now, and am heartily sorry when days have passed and I have not taken the time to praise you, I will try and make amends for my absence.
I could make excuses and tell you that these days are busy and that I don’t always have time to say hello. I have enough to deal with in my life. I should always have a few minutes for you, God.
I also know that I could play this prayer every night and it might stop me in my tracks and remind me that the day only exists because you exist and you gave me this day Lord.
This prayer for the end of the day is a time for me to stop all the worries and cares and the ¢×thinking about the troubles of tomorrow and of myself and other people.
It is time to stop the daily chatter in my head, to just stop and say hello God, thank you for giving me this day and being with me as I pass through it.
On the toughest of days, you are by my side, at times I am too busy or worried about how I am going to get through the day to even notice you. At times I feel alone and I might turn and you are there. You carry me in the very toughest of times when I need you most. Most of the time you are there silently guiding me through, helping me find my way.
In those tough days, if it wasn’t for your presence Lord, I might struggle to get through at all, and might well be overwhelmed and alone. You give me hope, quietly, like a steady loving presence that calms my thoughts and gives me the strength to carry on.
On busy days, you are there amid the hustle and bustle of the day. You are watching over me and at times helping me to make the right decisions. You show me the way and the light at all times and I have to just lift my head from my concerns to see it clearly. Despite me forging on forgetting you are there, you steady my hand and stay beside me, holding my hand gently to give me the power and strength to get through the day.
On days full of joy where my heart bursts out full of love for my other half or my family, where something wonderful happens and we cannot help but be happy with each other and bathe in the light that glows around us, you are there bringing all that happiness to bear.
When I forget to thank you on days such as these as I am too busy to break from the peace and happiness I should reach again for this prayer to remind myself that you brought this joy into my life.
I give you thanks and praise for those days and for the goodness you bring into this world and into my days. There are times of unspeakable joy and this stands out as days you were most definitely standing behind me.
On most days when I offer a prayer for the end of the day, the days have been mixed. On most days there are happy times, even if they are just small glimmers or moments where cares have been forgotten or a laugh shared.
On most days we have these moments with those we love, or at times with strangers, we barely know where we share a laugh or a really nice experience.
On most days we have work and chores and this can be drudgery or it can be rewarding. Work is rarely joyful all of the time. If we are lucky we have some purpose and satisfaction in our lives. For days when work has been good, I thank you, Lord. For the challenging days, I thank you, for they help me grow.
For the ability to go to work and earn a living so that I may have the basics in my life and take care of my responsibilities Lord I thank you, and some days this is all I manage to do.
On some days I am just too worn out to stop and thank you, these are just busy days that I fill with responsibilities, work, family and things I must do. These busy days can become my normal days and that is when you can be mostly forgotten.
It is on days like these that I need to remember to reach for this prayer to thank you for letting me have all these things in my life that keep me so full of purpose.
At the end of every day, another 24 hours have passed and I hope that at least once in that 24-hour period I have remembered your constant presence with me, Lord.
I hope that I remember to stop for ten seconds long enough to say a silent thank you, Lord. I hope that at least once in those 24 hours I stop and notice that I am alive and breathing and have so much to be grateful for.
I hope that once during these 24 hours since I last prayed I remember your teachings and have acted in line with your commands, that I have extended love and care to someone else.
At the end of every day I hope I say this prayer so that you know that whilst I am not perfect Lord, I am still one of your flock and I know in my heart that you have given me all that I have and that I only have to ask you for help and you are there.
Every day you are beside me Lord, helping me, encouraging me, holding my hand when I need strength, carrying me when I have none, standing behind me and letting me take my own steps and urging me in your path.
In all these ways you are in my every day.
Let me learn to take the time to offer this prayer for the end of the day to let you know Lord that you are the most important thing in my world and that I know you are ever-present and ever supportive.
Accept this small time in prayer from me so that I remember to give you full thanks and ask you to stay with me tomorrow whether my day is awful or wonderful or somewhere in between.
I am indebted to you for your grace and presence in my life and ask you to stay with me forever.
Lord hear this prayer.
Amen.
Have Your Prayer Submitted
Have your prayer for the end of the day submitted all over the world:
Bible Verses and Scripture for the End of the Day
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. – Philippians 4:6
So here prayer is about asking God for anything you feel you need that would relieve anxiety in your life. It is also clearly reminding us all that alongside asking for help we should be giving thanks for all that we have already.
A prayer at the end of the day is likely to be reflective of the day just passed and so thanksgiving seems particularly important and the main reason for the prayer.
Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving. – Colossians 4:2
Calling out in prayer each night, and remembering with ten seconds in the day is a good way of remaining steadfast in your day.
