Each one of us is placed in this world for a reason. The Lord specially planned our destiny before we were even born, and that’s why birthdays are incredibly relevant in every person’s life. They are the annual reminders of God’s goodness, which is why it also brings Him great joy when we celebrate this special day.
However, are we really focused on Jesus when this day comes, or are we so busy with our personal agendas that we tend to forget Him when we celebrate? Over time, people have created numerous ways to celebrate this special day, but the one thing we often forget the most is to include God in our gatherings.

What Does the Bible Say About Birthdays?
Psalm 118:24 says, “This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” God created this special day, so it is only fitting for us to be joyful and glad when it comes every year. However, what we really need to focus on in this verse is the fact that the Lord Himself made it. He is the source of our life; the very reason why we should be happy during birthday celebrations.

The Lord did not send us into this world to simply live life in a boring routine. He did not create us to simply work and store our fortunes until we grow old. He is a God who promises happiness to those who seek Him, and He constantly wants us to be fulfilled in our lives.
Psalm 139:13

For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.
Psalm 139:13-14 pointed out the beauty of our formation through these words: “For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.” The Word of God explains that we are made with such care, so how come if we were made delicately, many of us are still wasting our lives away with each moment that passes?
Psalm 91:16

With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.
Let us learn not to pressure ourselves when celebrating birthdays — whether for ourselves, a friend, a family member, or a loved one. Instead, let us remind one another that God blessed us with an opportunity to have a well-lived life, and that is something we shouldn’t take for granted. Make your special day more exciting by celebrating it in prayer and thanking the Lord for all the amazing things He has done for you.
John 3:16

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Every fiber of our being was carefully knit together by our all-powerful Creator. He made us with a specific purpose in mind, and that is the most inspiring reason to value our lives. Each birthday we celebrate represents a significant milestone, and if we learn to appreciate these special days every year, we get to take a step closer to walking on His will.
Corinthians 9:15

Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!

Numbers 6:24

The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.
The Bible teaches that we are to offer thanks to God, and we are free to celebrate our birthdays if we choose to. We must also remember that birthdays are all about the “who”. Christians have a special opportunity: rather than celebrating ourselves on our birthdays, we can rejoice in the life that God gave us and give Him thanks for it.
James 1:17

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.
Birthdays honor the role that God has played in a person’s life. The Giver of Life praises His Beloved for being born and for being born again.
