Offering a protective prayer for police officers asks the Lord God to send his angels to watch over the shoulder of the police and keep them safe. Police officers put their lives on the line every day to protect and serve.
They face danger every time they go out on a call, and they never know what might happen. We should all be grateful for the sacrifices these men and women make to keep us safe.
As Christians, we should also pray for them. Praying for police officers is one way we can show our support for them and let them know that we appreciate all they do. If you’re looking for ways to support your local police department, consider praying for them as well. It could make all the difference.
Let us pray.

Short Prayer
Lord, I pray for all police officers who serve and protect our communities. Please keep them safe from harm, give them wisdom in difficult situations, and strengthen them in their calling. Amen.
📖 Psalm 91:11-12
"For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone."
Prayer for Police Officer’s Safety
Heavenly Father, I come to You in prayer asking for protection for our police officers. I ask that You would guard their minds against fear and discouragement, and give them Your strength and Your courage. I pray that You would watch over them as they go out into the world each day and that You would bring them back safely to their families at the end of each shift. I ask all of this in the name of Jesus Chris. Amen.
📖 Isaiah 41:10
"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
St Michael’s Prayer for Police Officers
Mighty Saint Michael, patron saint of police officers, we turn to you for protection and guidance. You are known as the defender of truth and justice, and we ask that you help us to uphold these values in our work. You are also known as a powerful intercessor, and we ask that you intercede on our behalf, especially when we are called to serve in dangerous situations. We ask for your protection against all harm, both physical and spiritual. And we ask for your strength when we are feeling weak. Help us to remember that we are not alone in this battle, but that you are always with us. Amen.
📖 Psalm 18:2
"The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold."

A Prayer to Protect Police Officers
This was a longer prayer shared with our YouTube congregation. You can watch the video above to hear us offer this prayer to God or, if you prefer shorter prayers, you might also offer our Father a prayer for the armor of God or a prayer for your husband at work. Lord, I offer this prayer for police officers as a way of honoring the men and women who serve you by protecting us unwaveringly with steadfast care. They put themselves at risk daily so that we are safe from evil and wrongdoing. I am reminded by stories on the news of the need for these almost invisible and selfless people to stand between us and evil. We barely give them a thought unless one is killed in the line of duty and we might notice them as a brief headline. As part of my Christian duty, I offer this prayer to you to protect and keep safe those men and women who serve you and us daily and without fail. Lord this prayer for police officers is offered as a way of agreeing with your words that the men and women who uphold the authority and enforce standards of behavior are right to do so. These are often the unsung heroes of upholding these standards, the men and women who keep us to account, who encounter evil in their day-to-day lives and who stamp it out as you would have them do. These police officers turn up to work day after day and look evil and horror in the face and they continue in the presence of evil and danger to keep us safe and protect us no matter how exhausting that work is. These are our daughters and sons, our wives and husbands, who don a uniform and work around the clock to do your work. These people are genuine unsung heroes who are always there in our hour of need. And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me” This from Isaiah reminds us that these men and women stand up and accept the challenge of the Lord to serve and protect us. This is no ordinary job, this is no 9-5 safe place to be. Lord we often forget to respect the law and those who uphold it, we often forget to pray for those who stand up for our rights. This prayer is offered specifically to thank you for providing us with such brave men and women who walk fearlessly with you in upholding goodness and right. Help me to remember that this near-invisible force faces evils and harm each day so that we might walk without care and without fear from man and his evil wrongdoings. This presence of a police force tells those who might do us harm otherwise to beware our lawmakers and police, criminals face capture and imprisonment if caught. Many refrain from crime because of them. Our policemen and women are doing the lord’s work as it says in proverbs ‘When justice is done, it is a joy to the righteous but terror to evildoers‘. These police officers serve the Lord as they serve us in offering protection, as they do this they face up to the possibility of injury and death. Let this prayer for police officers also be heard especially for those who have been injured in the line of duty and for those who have sacrificed their lives to protect us. May they rest in peace with you, forever glorified for their sacrifice. These men and women who join the police force put others above themselves as you teach us in the bible, they put themselves in danger to protect us and sacrifice themselves to protect us from evil. You sacrificed your son to protect us and we praise you for your gift to us Lord, please allow me to praise these men and women who have followed in the footsteps of Jesus and who work tirelessly to help us. When Jesus walked this earth he treated the less fortunate and the thieves on the street with grace and honor. Often our policemen and women work directly with the less fortunate who become involved in crime not because of evil but because of a lack of choices and circumstances. Help our police officers to offer the same hand of friendship in these times so that lives may be turned around. Bless our officers with the wisdom to recognize evil and fight it, to recognize when there are those who need their help and understanding and forgiveness. Help them make the right choices at the right time. This prayer is a prayer for the protection of our policemen and women and for you to bless them with your grace and protect their hearts and minds as well as their bodily safety. We thank them for their service in your name Lord and pray for their safety and protection from harm and that you will hold them close in your heart so they make the right decisions on a daily basis. Lord hear my prayer. Amen.
📖 Romans 13:4
"For the one in authority is God's servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for rulers do not bear the sword for no reason. They are God's servants, agents of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer."

Prayer for a Fallen Police Officer

May they be given the strength to carry on. I know that You are a God of justice and righteousness, and I trust that You will bring about justice in this situation. In Your holy name. Amen.
