The worst thing that can happen to anyone is to feel far away from the God of the Universe. Can you imagine spending the rest of eternity away from God? So we encourage true Christians to draw near and start to say a prayer for getting closer to God.
It’s going to be a lifelong journey. There will be times in the beginning when you will be so fired up to draw close to God that you will actively pray and seek Him every day. But there can also be times when you will feel lonely and far away from His presence. All the more reason to pray to get closer to Him.

God our Father in Heaven, we praise and glorify Your mighty Name. We stand before You in prayer, humble before Your great presence. We pray for those who earnestly want to draw closer to You. Lord Jesus, You said that whenever two or three are gathered in Your Name, there You will be. We humbly ask for Your presence beside us. We know that the prayers of the righteous are powerful and effective, yet we claim no righteousness of our own other than the righteousness of our Lord Jesus. Thank You for Your goodness and mercy. Thank You for Your gift of eternal life through Your sacrifice on the cross. Thank You for bearing the penalty of their sins and opening the doors of heaven for all sinners. We pray that by faith, they will accept You as their Lord and Saviour. We know that there is no path to heaven, no key to eternal life other than You, Lord Jesus. We rejoice that they have a deep desire to draw closer to You and walk with You every day. May they recognize the voice of Your Holy Spirit and may You guide them on the way that they should go. Give them a heart that seeks after Your Kingdom that desires to look upon Your face. May they seek to grow in their knowledge of You, Your will, and Your character. May they be steadfast in following Your Word even through the times that they will stumble and fall. If they have fallen away in their relationship with You, make a way for them to come back and renew their relationship with You. Do not let them stray back into the world but instead embrace them with Your faithful love. May they find a genuine love relationship with You, o Lord. May they delight in reading Your Word, obeying Your will, and advancing Your Kingdom. Prepare rooms in heaven for them, Lord, as they strive to become more and more like You. May You smile and let Your face shine on them always. In Jesus’ name, we pray. And God’s people said, “Amen!”.
