The worst thing that can happen to anyone is to feel far away from the God of the Universe. Can you imagine spending the rest of eternity away from God? So we encourage true Christians to draw near and start to say a prayer for getting closer to God.
It’s going to be a lifelong journey. There will be times in the beginning when you will be so fired up to draw close to God that you will actively pray and seek Him every day. But there can also be times when you will feel lonely and far away from His presence. All the more reason to pray to get closer to Him.
Let’s make it a lifestyle choice to always be drawing near to the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.

Prayer For Becoming Closer To God
God our Father in Heaven, we praise and glorify Your mighty Name. We stand before You in prayer, humble before Your great presence. We pray for those who earnestly want to draw closer to You.
Lord Jesus, You said that whenever two or three are gathered in Your Name, there You will be. We humbly ask for Your presence beside us.
We know that the prayers of the righteous are powerful and effective, yet we claim no righteousness of our own other than the righteousness of our Lord Jesus.
Thank You for Your goodness and mercy. Thank You for Your gift of eternal life through Your sacrifice on the cross. Thank You for bearing the penalty of their sins and opening the doors of heaven for all sinners.
We pray that by faith, they will accept You as their Lord and Saviour. We know that there is no path to heaven, no key to eternal life other than You, Lord Jesus.
We rejoice that they have a deep desire to draw closer to You and walk with You every day. May they recognize the voice of Your Holy Spirit and may You guide them on the way that they should go.
Give them a heart that seeks after Your Kingdom that desires to look upon Your face. May they seek to grow in their knowledge of You, Your will, and Your character. May they be steadfast in following Your Word even through the times that they will stumble and fall.
If they have fallen away in their relationship with You, make a way for them to come back and renew their relationship with You. Do not let them stray back into the world but instead embrace them with Your faithful love.
May they find a genuine love relationship with You, o Lord. May they delight in reading Your Word, obeying Your will, and advancing Your Kingdom. Prepare rooms in heaven for them, Lord, as they strive to become more and more like You.
May You smile and let Your face shine on them always. In Jesus’ name, we pray. And God’s people said, “Amen!”.

Short Prayer For Getting Closer To God
Father in heaven, we pray for those approaching You and have a genuine desire to be closer to You. Thank You, Lord, that You have called them by name, and they answered wholeheartedly.
Draw them closer to You through Your Word, Your Spirit, and their prayer. May they always run to You in thanksgiving and praise for everything that happens in their lives – even the times when they may stumble into sin. Lead them to repent and turn away from sin.
Help them to be sanctified by Your blood every day. Renew their hearts and minds and mold them after Your character.

Mold them, Lord, like the potter molds the clay. Take away the sinful tendencies and replace them with genuine righteousness from You. Walk beside them through good times and bad. May they always look to You first in everything they do.
Speak to them, Lord, and let them hear Your voice so that they may be emboldened to live a life like Christ. Strengthen their hearts and help them resist the temptations of the enemy. Remind them always that they are conquerors

Lord God, Heavenly Father, we rejoice with the heavens and pray for those seeking Your face.
You have called them by name, and they are responding, “Here I am” to Your call. Bless Your people, Lord, for they have a heart like David’s. May Your face shine on them always and may You look upon them with favor in everything they do.
Pull them close, Lord, and never let them go. If they stumble along the way, lift them up and shower them with Your loving presence.
We joyfully claim that this prayer is answered in Jesus’s mighty Name. Amen.

Lord, we thank You and praise You for everything that You have done for Your people. We pray for those who have fallen by the side and have stood back up to return to You, Lord.
Look upon them, Lord, with mercy and grace, and uplift them with Your loving Spirit. Renew the fire in their hearts and make it burn with zeal for You again, just like before.
We thank You that Your mercies are new every morning. You forgive their transgressions and give them a new and clean slate. May they remember You always when they wake up in the morning, when they sleep at night and every moment in between.

Father God, we pray for those who want to come closer to You. We thank You, Lord, that You have torn the veil and given us direct access to You through Your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ.
Thank You for Your redeeming sacrifice on the cross. May You bless those who chose to respond with a desire to be closer to You. Renew their hearts every day to not conform to the patterns of this world but instead to look on You and follow Your will in their lives.
