Offering God a prayer for teachers asks God to help support those who hold the future of our children in their hands. We all rely on teachers not only to educate and take care of our children but to guide their moral code.
We expect our teachers to turn up rain or shine with the same energy every day to impart knowledge and guidance to our kids day after day, week after week. Teachers care for our kids and help them learn what they need to know, get them through exams and guide them through the day.
Let us pray.

Morning Prayer for Teachers
Dear God, I pray for all the teachers this morning.
I ask that you would give them strength for today. Help them to be patient with their students and to find joy in their teaching. Hold their hand and support them throughout the day.
I pray that you would give them wisdom as they guide their students in learning. And I pray that you would bless them with your peace.
Amen.
Offering a short morning prayer to God invites His love to watch over us and support us for the day ahead. This is one if my favorite times to pray.
Prayer for Retired Teachers
Dear Lord, teachers retire from their years of teaching with a sense of accomplishment and a deep love for their students.
They offer so much to their profession and to the students under their care. They enrich the lives they touch and as they move onto this new phase of life I pray you offer them continued guidance.
Help them stay connected to their students and let them be a positive influence in the lives of those around them as they enjoy their retirement. Let them find new ways to enjoy Your many blessings and watch over them.
Amen.
Prayer for Teachers and Students
Lord, I pray for all the teachers and students.
I pray that You would give them strength for each day. I pray that You would help them to remain patient with one another and to learn and grow in Your love.
I pray that You would be with them in the classroom and in their homes, guiding them every step of the way.
Lord, I know that teaching and learning can be difficult at times, but I trust in Your goodness and Your grace. I know that with You by their side, they can overcome anything. So today, I just ask that You would bless these teachers and students, and help them to feel Your presence in their lives.
Amen.
First Day of School Prayer for Teachers
Heavenly Father, I come to You today asking for Your guidance and support as we begin another school year.
I know that being a teacher is not always easy, but I also know that with Your help, all things are possible. I ask that You would watch over the teachers and their students as they learn and grow together.
Help them to build a foundation of knowledge and understanding that will last a lifetime. Most of all, Father, help us all to remember the importance of Your love in our lives.
Amen.
Teacher Prayer
This longer prayer was shared with our YouTube congregation. You could watch the video above to have us offer this prayer on your behalf or, if you’d prefer shorter prayers, we also have a collection of prayers for children’s protection.
Lord, we entrust our kids into the hands of the teachers every day. We trust those teachers to care and educate our children and young men and women. It is not always an easy job they have chosen.
I ask you to bless them in their work, guide them in what they say and how they teach our kids. Guide their thinking so that our kids hear not just the learning and the subjects they teach, but also hear a strong moral code guiding their behavior and thoughts.
I know teachers are drawn to this profession because of their love of learning and of imparting knowledge. It is rewarding to guide a young person on their path. It can also be frustrating and hard work when not all the kids are well behaved and want to learn.
Bring patience into the heart of these teachers so that they stay calm in the face of these tough days.
Teachers are critical people in the lives of our kids, they can light the fire of knowledge and confidence so that our kids feel they can be whatever they want to be. That is a wonderful gift to give teachers and amazing support to parents.
As Proverbs says “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it”
Teachers are flawed like the rest of us. With careless words, they can hurt a child’s feelings and set them on the wrong path. Grant all our teachers the gift of positive affirmation so that they always set a child on the right path. Grant them the wisdom to know when they have to correct themselves.
This prayer for teachers is offered so that you give them the patience and love for the job that they started with so that it stays with them always and they remain true to their calling. Support them in working children to help them grow and learn how to be great adults useful in the service of the Lord.
Teachers are with our children all day long and are important in their lives for knowledge and for showing them the way forward. How often do we as parents hear what the teacher said, these thoughts stay with our children and form their thinking?
Their voices are part of all our lives. We can often remember teachers twenty or thirty years later, not just for the knowledge they gave us but often just for the people they were.
Sadly these days also teachers can be called to protect our children in school. May you stay with them in these dark moments and guide their actions well so that they stay safe and keep the children in their care safe.
Help our teachers to spot the child who is the loner and who might stray in the path of evil, and help them stay the hand of evil on these young people. Keep our teachers and children safe.
I ask you to bless teachers everywhere, to help them in their lives so that they can be energetic and positive in their work. Give them the strength to see the good and the potential in our kids so that they teach them what they need to know to move forward in life.
This prayer for teachers is also said for those thinking of joining the profession, young adults looking for a calling and finding a life purpose in teaching others.
Help them find their way into teaching and find the school they are meant to be in. Place these new teachers in the room with the right children at the right time so that lives are set on the right path.
For retired teachers, help them bathe in the memories of all the lives they have touched, may that warm their days and may their reward be great.
Lord hear this appreciation for teachers everywhere and give them the wisdom and strength they need to carry on doing the great job they do on a daily basis.
Lord Hear my Prayer. Amen.

Bible Verses and Scripture for Teachers
Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness. For we all stumble in many ways. And if anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle his whole body. – James 3 1:2
Teaching is tougher than many people think, this reference to that also makes it clear that no one is perfect, not even teachers, but they have to work so hard to keep these imperfections out of the classroom.
As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace – Peter 4:10
Some people have the calling and the gift to be able to teach, these are very special people.
The proverbs of Solomon, son of David, king of Israel: To know wisdom and instruction, to understand words of insight, to receive instruction in wise dealing, in righteousness, justice, and equity; to give prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the youth— Let the wise hear and increase in learning, and the one who understands obtain guidance – Proverbs 1: 1-33
This is such a lovely reference to teaching and learning, acknowledging that it is not just about knowledge but about insight, justice and righteousness. All of these things are passed on to us by the wise, and all of these things are expected from our teachers.
The student is not above the teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like their teacher. – Luke 6:40
As Christians, we are called to pray for our teachers. This verse from Luke reminds us that we should not see ourselves as above our teachers, but rather as equals who are working together to learn and grow.
We are all on a journey of faith, and our teachers play an important role in helping us to deepen our understanding of God’s Word.
When we pray for our teachers, we are asking God to bless them with wisdom and knowledge, so that they can continue to lead us closer to Him. We are also asking for God’s protection and guidance, as they work to instill His truths in our hearts.
