Being grateful is one of the main tenants of Christianity. It’s easy to be grateful when everything in your life is going great, but what about when things are tough? These Bible verses will help motivate and encourage you to be grateful, no matter what life throws your way.
These Bible verses for being grateful tell us that sometimes it’s difficult to be grateful but that we should really try. Being grateful is a good way of life and brings happiness to ourselves and those around us.

Verses
Psalms 136:1
Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good. His love endures forever.
What are the things that you are most thankful for? Do you find that being grateful allows you to enjoy these blessings more?
When we live a life close to God, praise and thanksgiving must go hand-in-hand. Without being grateful, our praise and worship of God fall short. We should be grateful to God for all the blessings He has given us. Being grateful serves as a reminder that God gave us all we have today.
Our Lord has given us everything. Without thankfulness, we develop arrogance and selfishness. We start to think that we did everything by ourselves. Gratitude preserves our hearts in the right relationship with God.
Thessalonians 5:18
Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
Gratitude reminds us of all the things the Lord has given us. We, humans, are prone to greed. We often concentrate on the things we lack. By expressing gratitude, we are reminded of how much we have.
You become happier when you concentrate on God’s blessings instead of your personal wants. Your perspective shifts when you begin to give thanks to God for the things you normally take for granted.
We must remember that without God’s compassionate favors, we would not even be here.
Psalm 118:24
This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.
It’s easy to approach the Lord and give thanks at any time we desire. The Lord is near, and He hears us. Joining together with other Christians is a special way to celebrate your blessings.
The Lord has done so much for us. He has created us from dust and breathed life into us. Our God took great care in building the universe. Everything was planned. Everything He built had intention behind it. Every day we are given the opportunity to appreciate God’s work.
Psalm 107:1
Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever!
There is so much for which we should be grateful. We can witness God’s unwavering love for us in the Bible and in everyday life. A love that we should gratefully and humbly praise the Lord for.
Can you think of ways that God has shown you His love? God’s love for us is exactly as great as it was for individuals in Scripture. He always wants a connection with us. His continuous love for us should inspire us to give Him thanks.
Psalm 30:12
That my glory may sing your praise and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks to you forever!
Our faith must get deeper every time we experience God’s love. Think back to a time when you experienced God’s powerful presence in your life. Recognize that He alone is your sole provider.
We should not only be grateful when things are good but also when we face hardships. We avoid bitterness when we make it a point to give thanks to God for all He brings into our life. We cannot simultaneously be grateful and resentful.
We don’t give thanks to the Lord for the bad things that happen to us. We do not thank Him for the harm that comes our way. We thank the Lord for giving us the courage to bear these difficulties. We are grateful for His promise that people who love God and are chosen according to his plan will receive His blessings.
Acts 24:3
In every way and everywhere we accept this with all gratitude.
Even though we may not feel grateful for our current circumstances, we can still have a thankful attitude toward God. Even in our grief, we may express gratitude. We may suffer while still being grateful. We can be angry with sin and still be appreciative of God.
Giving gratitude to God preserves our hearts in a proper relationship with Him and safeguards us from a multitude of destructive feelings and attitudes that will deprive us of the peace God wants us to experience.
