In your Christian walk to become more like Christ, there will be roadblocks that stand in the way. The most dangerous temptations are the ones that seem good and pleasing on the surface. You need to turn to God with a prayer for temptation so that you can resist it.
Prayer and the Word of God are a Christian’s most powerful weapons against temptation. And every day, there are temptations all around us! So you need to be vigilant because sin is lurking at every corner, waiting to pounce on you when you least suspect it.

Prayer Against Temptation
God our Father in Heaven, we stand before You in prayer, humble before Your great presence. We pray for the power to resist temptations for everyone who wants it.
Lord Jesus, You said that whenever two or three are gathered in Your Name, there You will be. We humbly ask for Your presence beside us.
We know that the prayers of the righteous are powerful and effective, yet we claim no righteousness of our own other than the righteousness of our Lord Jesus.
Lord, You know their struggles, and You know that they desire to follow You with all their heart. But sometimes, they commit sin because they fall into temptation. Forgive them, Lord, and have mercy on them.
Renew their minds daily, and may they be reminded not to conform to the patterns of this world but instead be transformed by the renewing of their minds. Help them forsake worldly desires that only seek to make them commit sin. Do not let them fall to the deception of the enemy.
We pray that You give them wisdom and discernment to clearly see temptations that only seek to lead them away from Your purpose for their lives. Remind them that they have the power to resist and flee from temptations with the help of the Holy Spirit.
Remind them to stay rooted in the Word and in the church that molds them to be more like You. Do not let them stray away from fellowship with fellow Christians, for no one can keep resisting on their own. Give them friends and angels to surround and defend them when their spirit is weak.
Guide them to be stronger and wiser every day. Give them a heart that desires only to please You. Help them to forsake worldly pleasures and keep their sexual purity. Do not let them be tempted to have sex outside the boundaries of marriage.
We firmly believe that each can resist temptations, for You said that You had not given anyone challenges that are not common to everyone. We all face the same temptations, but those who cling to You receive the power to overcome. Let them, therefore, cling firmly to You, Lord, and do not let them go.
May You guide them and be with them always. In Jesus’ name, we pray. And God’s people said, “Amen!”.

Short Prayer For Temptation
Father in heaven, we pray for the strength to resist and flee from temptation. Worldly desires are all around Your people seeking to catch them unaware and encouraging them to commit sin.

Fasting Prayer For Overcoming Temptation
Lord God, we come to You humbled and weak in Your presence. Sustain their bodies, Lord, as they fast and pray for Your favor – that You give them the strength to overcome the daily temptations in their lives.
Renew their minds as they try to avoid the patterns of this world. In their weakness, make them strong through Your Word. Do not let them be devoured by sin, and rescue them from the clutches of addictions and worldly desires. Let them know that there is no temptation that they cannot overcome with the strength You gave them.

Prayer To Avoid Temptation
Lord God, Heavenly Father, we pray for those who want the wisdom and presence of mind to avoid temptation. Give them discernment and help them to recognize Your voice when You warn them of danger.
Keep them on the narrow and straight path, and do not let them stray away from Your will. Give them the will to flee far away from temptation and, if they cannot flee, the power to resist it, for You have given them the power to resist through Your Holy Spirit.

Prayer Against Sexual Temptation
Lord, we thank You that Your people have righteousness because of Your cleansing blood. You have wiped away their sin and given them new hope. We pray that You will empower them to keep themselves pure and flee from sexual temptation.
Give them a heart like Joseph, who seeks only the approval of his Master. We pray that they will make You the Master of their lives and that they will seek purity over desires of the flesh. Give them pure love toward their partners and help them keep their purity.

Lord, we pray that You give strength to those being tempted by worldly passions. Give them eyes to discern with wisdom the lies of the enemy. Give them hearts that beat only for You. And give them strong legs to flee swiftly from temptation.
Make their lives right in Your eyes, Lord. Help them to stay true to Your will and Your purpose for their lives. Help them fight the good fight of the faith. Do not allow them to be tempted beyond what they can bear, and always give them a way out.

Prayer For Someone Struggling With Temptation
Lord God, we pray for those struggling with temptation. Forgive them when they give in and lift them up and renew their spirits. Do not let them feel condemnation and sorrow. Instead, give them renewed hope and strength that they can overcome their challenges.
Surround them with people who can help them be conquerors, who will mentor them, guide them, and pray for them every day. Give them a heart that is soft to Your voice and hard against temptation. Give them a spirit that stands up to the enemy and stays true to You.
